Guests will be received at Paro International Airport in the morning. They will be straightaway taken to a farmhouse where they will be treated a nice traditional lunch made of rice, meat, spices, vegetables, soup and tea. You will stay in a nice guesthouse which offers the traditional ambience and amenities. The next day will take you to Punakha and Wangdi which are places filled with so many Buddhist myths and sacred places. The wonders will greet on the way including the 108 temples at Dochula Pass which is highest pass between Thimphu and Punakha. You will also get to socialize and immerse yourself into discovering western Bhutan and its culture. You will visit several Bhutanese homes, temples, places, and see the picturesque natural landscapes of Bhutan.
We drive back to the capital city. The remaining fun and excitement after your first day in the capital will be fulfilled on this day. We will visit the zoo where national animal takin is preserved. We will also climb little higher above the city to see the biggest Buddha statue of its kind in the world. We will go and see the majestic fortress of Tashichodzong which is the seat of our Central Monastic Body and the office of our King.
We drive to Paro and complete the last of your expeditions to discover Bhutan. You will climb up to the high rocky cliff of Taktshang Monastery which is built after a great Buddhist saint landed here flying on the back of a tigress. In the evening you will stroll around the Paro town buying gifts and souvenirs to your loved ones back at home. In the evening you shall go for a traditional hot stone bath to relax and get rid of exhaustion from the tours.
It will be a sad day to see you all leaving us. With heavy heart and reluctance, we will take you to the airport. We shall offer you good luck scarves which you will take home to cherish the memories you have had with us and Bhutan.
Your excursion will start after we receive you at the Paro International Airport. We shall make visits to so many places of interest within short distances. You will get to see the magnificent fortress, the Paro Dzong. You will be taken to Drugyel Dzong which is in ruins perched on a hilltop. This dzong was built a symbol of victory of Bhutanese forces against Tibetan armies in 1649. You will also witness breathtaking beauty of Jhomolhari Mountain which is one of the highest peaks in Bhutan. You will then visit temples and culture sites where you will see the people deeply absorbed into spirituality and Buddhism.
On the second day we shall climb up to visit a monastery built on a high rocky cliff. It was built to honour the place where a great Buddhist saint, Guru Padmasambhava, flew on a back of a tigress to subdue demons rising here and meditate thereafter. That’s why the monastery is called Taktshang meaning Tiger’s Nest. Guests who can’t walk uphill can hire horses. After we return from the cliff, we shall head to the National Museum at Paro. It houses some of the most sacred, precious, and exquisite art and artifacts of Bhutan.
