Visa

Visa for tourists is strictly monitored and issued by our government tourism agency called Tourism Council (TCB) of Bhutan.

The visa rules require every tourist to pay the FULL amount of tour package offered by a local Bhutanese tour operator or overseas partner travel agency. The whole payment should be deposited into the account of TCB. Only after receiving the payment from a tourist or group of tourist for that particular travel plan then the TCB will issue visa to the tourist or tourists.

The total payment to the TCB must also include visa fee which is US$ 40 for each tourist. The visa will be valid only for the intended travel plan. However, if a tourist wishes to extend the visa by extending their stay in Bhutan, then the local travel agency can process for such visa extension.

Once the visa is issued and there arises a situation to cancel your trip to Bhutan, then following cancellation conditions will prevail:

a. 30 days prior to the date of arrival in Bhutan will be levied 10% amount on the total tour costs.
b. 15 days prior to the arrival date in Bhutan will be charged 50% of the total tour costs.
